Introduction
Ari is one of the students of the Weeque Valley National Academy and also the classmate of Hiasen and Bizet.
Innate Mana
Ari's Innate Mana is Senov, which allows her to change the shape and properties of things.[1] She can use it to dye her hair[2] and that of others.[3]
Her Innate Mana activated quite early. There were only two other students, Bizet and Shirang, whose Innate Mana had already activated when Ari started attending the Weeque Valley National Academy.[2]
Background
Ari used to go to another private school, wherein one of her friends was taking drugs. Because she was afraid that the use of drugs would be spread among other people, she kept quiet about the incident of her friend being blinded. Because of this, the Black Raincoat, targets her and wants to kill her.
Personality
Ari is frank and blunt, she also has a blurred sense of what's right and wrong. When Hiasen and Ari first met, she asked him whether he would like her to help in the exam by which she meant to help him cheat. Ari is quite sharp and good in reading people. She catches on fast that Sena[4] and Ten are keeping an eye on Hiasen.[5] She also cares a lot about her friends and would even sacrifice herself just to protect them, just like when they were attacked by the Black Raincoat.
Shirang thinks that Ari is carefree, but at the same time she assumes that Ari might be the type to take revenge.[4]
Relationship
- Hiasen Bellenepia
- They are in good terms with each other despite the little accident involving their first examination. Ari has a sense of respect for Hiasen and she acknowledges his IQ.
- Bizet Takarette
- They have a mutual relationship with each other that only involves talking whenever needed. Ari never reached out to Bizet but she had went against him.
Season 1
The 73rd Box[]
Ari is a new transfer student to the Weeque Valley National Academy just like Hiasen. Sena introduces them to each other. After Sena leaves, the two kids chit-chat about their upcoming placement test. Hiasen tells her that he wants good grades because his uncle is a teacher at the academy and Ari offers to help him to achieve that. During the test, she uses magic to display the correct answers on her neck, so that Hiasen who sits behind her can read them. But Bizet notices that they are cheating and reports it to Sena. Sena brings them to Kasin who gently scolds them and informs them that they both get a zero score for the test.[4] Afterwards, Hiasen apologizes to the class, but Ari speaks in his defense, saying it wasn't his fault and that it was she who told him to cheat. With this both of them earn Choelsoo's respect and most of the other kids forgive them, too.[6]
Once class is over, the kids head to their dorms, where Hiasen discovers a Memory Box in his room. He wants to open it, but can't. Together with Ari he looks for Kasin in the teachers' office to ask for help, but they only find Sena, so they ask her. Sena inspects the box in the room and explains to them what it is when Kasin enters the room.[7] He tries to talk the kids out of opening the box because it would lead to trouble. Hiasen discusses Kasin's reaction with Ari, saying that his uncle lied about the box being a safety issue. If it was true, Kasin would have gotten rid of it right away. They look for Sena, again, to ask her for help one more time. While talking to her, Ten approaches Hiasen. Ari notices that Hiasen is afraid of Ten for some reason.[5]
Not receiving any help from the adults, Hiasen keeps thinking of a way to open it. His Pita Pata gave him a hint that Ran could be the only one who can open the box. The same day, Ari comes to school with her hair all blonde. The others are surprised and she explains she used her Innate Mana to dye it before. Hiasen thinks dying his hair like Ran's could help him to open the Memory Box and he asks Ari to help him.[2] They head to his room where he explains that the owner of the box had red hair. Ari doubts that this would help opening the box, but dyes his hair anyway, under the condition that he'd tell her what's inside. She leaves the room while he's trying to open it. Outside, she sees Ten who signals she should remain silent.[3] Ari is suspicious of Ten's behavior and his ties to Hiasen, so she goes to Kasin to ask if Hiasen by any chance did something wrong. This way Kasin finds out that Ten is onto Hiasen.[8]
